I like people and I care about people. I know everyone is different, that relationships are complicated, and society impacts all of us. As a counsellor I’ve learned to listen.

I come to counselling with a diverse work history, from providing adult education in a high security prison, to helping not-for-profit organisations with communications and campaigning, to being a bank teller and a bike courier.

I grew up in the country but I’ve lived in the Inner West for decades. My key values are respect, equity, kindness and freedom. I try to have as much fun as I can and I try to walk lightly on the Earth.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of the Gadigal country on which I live.

MY PHILOSOPHY

Society is complex and contradictory and in many ways unhealthy. We can often feel pressured by unrealistic expectations of achievement, and to conform to outdated ways of living. And it’s harder now than in previous generations to gain the housing and employment security we all deserve. On top of this the environmental crisis hangs over all of us and individually we may feel powerless.

The way we were parented sets patterns of behaviour, many of which are unconscious, that can be unhelpful for us as adults. Many people suffer adverse childhood experiences or traumatic events in adulthood. These can need help to recognise and work with so each of us has our best opportunity to thrive.

My counselling is a gentle person-centred methodology where I offer support, understanding and guided reflection as a way to explore what you want to resolve about yourself and your relationships, and to work on the goals you have to make your life more satisfying.
